A Little About Me
My name is Thomas McAuley, and I’m a passionate UX/UI Designer with a deep appreciation for creating exceptional user experiences. Even before I discovered the formal concepts of UX and UI design, I always had a natural inclination towards crafting intuitive interfaces and seamless interactions that truly engage users.
My Journey
I embarked on my creative journey as a Graphic Designer, where I honed my skills in crafting logos, websites, and print materials. Next came web design where I It was during this time that I developed a keen eye for aesthetics and a deep understanding of effective visual communication.
Full Focus on UX/UI
Now, my primary creative focus is on UX/UI Design. I’m wholeheartedly dedicated to crafting exceptional user experiences across a wide spectrum of digital platforms. Whether it’s designing for mobile, tablet, desktop, or SmartTV/OTT channels, my mission remains the same: to make technology user-friendly and visually engaging.

In my journey through design, I’ve wholeheartedly embraced Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles. It’s not just about creating visually appealing products; it’s about understanding the people who will use them. HCD places users at the core of the design process, and this philosophy guides my every creative endeavor.
EMPATHY-DRIVEN DESIGN
One of the pillars of HCD is empathy – the ability to deeply understand users’ needs, desires, and pain points. Empathizing with users allows me to design experiences that resonate on a personal level. Every pixel, color choice, and interaction is thoughtfully crafted to enhance the lives of those who engage with the design.

Human-Centered Design doesn’t stop at the drawing board. It’s a dynamic process that involves constant iteration and testing. Design Thinking and User-Centered Design are intertwined. They both emphasize understanding users’ needs and desires. Design Thinking takes it a step further by encouraging innovative solutions. It’s about creating products and experiences that not only meet users’ expectations but also exceed them, ultimately driving meaningful change.

They say good leaders are good followers. In my role as a Creative Director, I’ve had the privilege of guiding creative processes, fostering innovation, and ensuring that every project aligns with the highest standards of quality and brand consistency. But it’s also about guiding my peers and those I’m directing, and allowing the wisdom and experience of others to grow my skills.

To keep my skills sharp and up-to-date, I draw inspiration from sources including daily insights from NN//g and and I following influential design accounts on social media like @logobucket, @supercharge.design, @redonadida, @uiux_design_gallery, and many others. These resources help me stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and fuel my creativity.
Relevant Experience
Throughout my career, I have honed my skills in various areas of design, including branding, website design, graphic design, marketing/advertising, and so much more. With a keen eye for aesthetics and a commitment to user-centric design, I strive to deliver visually stunning and functional interfaces that leave a lasting impact.
When I’m Not At the Machine
Outside of work, I enjoy binging series with my wife, playing acoustic guitar, indulging in captivating literature, relaxing with evening yoga, and showcasing my pen and ink abstracts at The River Art Group Gallery at La Villita. These activities center and refresh me, making room and receptivity for my next design day.
